Extending the Small Business Assistance Scheme for Covid to include non-rateable premises is an “important” move.
This is the view of Independent Galway East TD, Seán Canney, who has welcomed the recent decision by the Department of Jobs and Enterprise.
The extension will allow small businesses working from home, such as event caterers, home offices, hot desks, wedding planners, on course bookmakers, and photographers to apply for the scheme which is for businesses whose turnover are affected by the Covid restrictions.
“Many small businesses affected by the pandemic were being excluded from this support scheme which was completely unfair,” said Dep Canney. “Business owners who feel that they may qualify should contact their local authority for further details.”
