JUMP ST-ART, a visual arts event to mark the re-opening of the Kinvara Courthouse art gallery space, takes place this weekend and next.
This event will include a series of short films by local artists, videos, and an exhibition of artworks created during the lockdown.
The Courthouse will be open for viewing for two weekends, including this weekend (Friday May 28 to Sunday 30 ), focussing on the videos, and June 4 to 6, focussing on the visual arts. Gallery opening times are 12 noon to 4pm.
The films
This weekend’s events will features an animated short film, In Those Days by KAVA member Patricia Timmons; a collaboration with ConTempo; short artist introduction videos put together as a remote collaboration by Craig McLeod and the individual KAVA artists; Zack and Silk by Louise Wallace; and 5 Years of KAVA: a slide show looking back on KAVA’s past events.
The weekend will also see a screening of Them by award winning filmmaker Robin Lochmann. Them is set in a forgotten village, where everyone is cut from the same cloth, a new, self-proclaimed leader arrives changing the local way of life. Dividing lines are carved out as the once unified society is torn and segregated. The film examines misguided ideologies, destructive leadership, and what we have in common.
