Roscam amenity lands to open this week says Crowe

The amenity lands located in the Roscam area of Galway city, which includes a playground, will finally be open to residents and the public from this weekend.

Residents in the general Roscam area were concerned by the delay in the opening of the amenity lands and asked Fianna Fáil councillor Michael J Crowe to look into it.

Cllr Crowe held a series of meetings with the Galway City Council’s parks department and all outstanding problems have now been resolved and the playground and immediate area will be open from this week, with the rest expected to be open in about another week.

“We have learned in past times that it is necessary to build open spaces, play areas, etc, with residential developments and not to go looking for them afterwards,” said Cllr Crowe. “Part of the conditions of planning in the Roscaoin and Boireann Bheag areas was that an area like this would be also developed and it’s my belief that this is current best practice.”
