Wheelchair athlete Shauna Bocquet set the fastest time on week one of the Galway 5k virtual series.
Not only was it the fastest for the opening week, but the Craughwell AC athlete produced a 13.43 to also set a series record.
The fastest male was Ger Hartnett of Tuam AC in 16.25, and fastest female was Neasa De Burca of GCH in a time of 19.09. The series continues for five weeks.
Craughwell athletics facilities
Craughwell Athletics club is continuing its ambitious facilities development plans at its base in the village with the announcement of the next phase of its development, the completion of a 400m track facility.
The club will commence construction on May 17 with hopes of completion date within eight weeks.
Galway Development squads
The 2021 Galway Athletics development squads for selected club athletes from U15 to U19 will commence activities from next weekend March 14 with the middle-distance training squad meeting.
Other event groups including walks, sprints, hurdles, throws and jumps will take place on weekends prior to the end of May. Athletes and clubs will be notified in advance of each session with sign up details being sent to club officials.
