Calling all aspiring young authors

New creative writing class aimed at those aged from 10 to 12 years

Does your child love writing? A new Galway based education company is running an online creative writing course for aspiring young authors in mid-May.

The course is aimed at those aged from 10 to 12 years who love creative writing. The aims of the course are to advance writing skills and facilitate the transfer of ideas from the imagination to the blank page or screen. Students will be facilitated to hone their storytelling ability while also improving their language skills.

Modules will cover topics including ‘Generating ideas, ‘Compelling beginnings’ and ‘Crafting characters’. By the end of the course, students will have completed a number of pieces of creative writing that will form the foundation for their novel in progress.

.

Professional writing tutor Rebecca D’Arcy will present the course, bringing with her a wealth of experience (including teaching with the Centre for Talented Youth Ireland ) and a PhD in literature. The course is made up of six modules over six weeks with homework and feedback provided.

Classes take place on Zoom and each class lasts 90 minutes. The course begins on Tuesday May 18 at 5pm and runs for six weeks. The cost is €120 per child and can be paid securely via Paypal.
