Gort student wins international songwriting competition

There was great excitement in Gort Community School this week as a talented sixth year music student at the school won a prestigious international award.

Singer songwriter Jenna Coughlan has been featured on Think Earth Vol 1 EP, produced by Future Youth Records, an internationally recognised organization renowned for combating environmental issues. Her original composition, 'Smoke Storms', explores themes of climate change and is available on Spotify and Apple Music.

Jenna Coughlan is a true talent with a bright musical career ahead. If Covid restrictions were not in place she would be travelling to Los Angeles this week to record her track.

Future Youth Records is a non-profit record label dedicated to helping young people create and distribute music promoting social justice. FYR’s songwriting contests are open to people aged 16 to 24 globally. Artists submit original songs promoting social justice. All genres and languages welcome, and there are five winners of each contest.
