Cannon welcomes shortlisting of contractors for new Bullaun NS

Fine Gael Deputy Ciaran Cannon has welcomed an announcement from the Department of Education that it has authorised the design team charged with developing a new eight classroom school at Bullaun to select a shortlist of contractors for the project.

The panel of contractors will then be permitted to submit tenders for the development of a new state of the art school on a site adjacent to Bullaun church.

Deputy Cannon said: “This is wonderful news for the Bullaun NS school community and the wider community. This is a very successful school that has long outgrown its current site and relies on prefabs for the majority of its classrooms. We already have full planning permission for a new state of the art school on a site in the village and with this panel of contractors being put in place by the Department of Education, I expect the project to go to tender very shortly.

He concluded: “The school principal Fergal Connaire and his board of management have worked incredibly hard to get the project to this stage and it’s good to see that work being recognised by the Department of Education. We now look forward to the next stage of the development, the final appointment of a contractor and the sod being turned on the site."
