GRETB Training Centre is now offering a free fully funded International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL ) course. This course is online and runs from May 10 for a duration of 20 weeks.
The tutor-led course provides learners with the skills, knowledge, and competencies to use a wide range of software applications on a computer and achieve a worldwide recognised qualification in computing. ICDL (rebranded ECDL ) provides a practical programme of up-to-date skills and knowledge areas which are validated by a test.
The course tutor is online with students every day of the course. The course includes a work placement module. Work placement can be in any office situation where learners get the opportunity to develop their practical skills. This has proven invaluable for attaining employment at the end of the programme.
The course has been running very successfully in GRETB since 2000. People who take this course can source employment in a range of clerical/administrative positions in IT and other sectors. The certification, which demonstrates an ability to use devices and tools confidently and productively, is an effective way for learners to set themselves apart. A sizeable number of past learners are working in various office settings, reception areas, etc.
The ICDL certified course modules are: Computer essentials; online essentials; word processing; spreadsheets; presentation skills; using databases; and IT security.
