Brown Thomas merchandiser creates care packages for homeless

Packages contain toiletries, thermal vests, leggings, socks, meal vouchers, and snacks.

Brown Thomas visual merchandiser and window dresser Jacqueline Roche has created care packages for homeless people living on the streets of the city.

As part of a recent Give Back To The Community campaign, she created his and her care packages for some of the people currently living on our streets as she feels that they are less able to avail of generosity given that the streets are devoid of people.

“I pass the same people, living in shop doorways, on my way to work each day. It struck me how difficult it must be for them, especially now, when there are so few people in town, carrying little or no cash or small change. This is what gave me the idea to create care packages, so that our homeless community know that we are thinking of them and wishing them well,” said Jacqueline.

“Each of the twenty bags contain his and her toiletries, high quality thermal vests, leggings, socks and basics, lots of great meal vouchers and snacks.

“I want to say a big thank you to all of my friends and staff at Brown Thomas for their help and support. A special thanks to Michael Walsh and Michelle at Matt O’Flaherty Pharmacies for your contribution towards the toiletry bags. Thank you to Hannah at Booley Sports for donating some of the gorgeous thermals and outdoor wear. There is also an amount of cash in each bag.

“A massive thank you to Donal at Botown, Shaun at Boojum and Ali at Hooked for your fabulous meal vouchers. It was so lovely to meet you all. Everyone has been so generous. It is a true sign that community spirit is alive and well in Galway. Every bag will be personally delivered with a note that says ‘A gift for you —from the Brown Thomas staff and your local community’, “ she said.
