LEADER funding is an ‘opportunity’ for rural Galway, says Naughton

€1.3 million in Government funding to support remote working, job creation, and the green economy

More than €1.3 million in Government funding has been made available for rural development projects in Galway West, to support remote working, job creation, amenities, and the green economy.

The allocation is part of the €70 million Transitional LEADER programme, and the Minister of State, Hildegarde Naughton, is urging interested groups to apply for the funding and make contact with their local development companies to discuss their plans.

“There is a new focus on rural development and balanced regional development,” she said. “The opportunities presented by the trend towards remote working is a game-changer for our towns and villages.”

.

The programme is delivered by 29 Local Action Groups in 28 sub-regional areas across the country. These groups are partnerships between public and private entities from defined geographical areas.

LAGs are responsible for identifying and helping to develop local projects which support the themes of economic development, including enterprise development and job creation, social inclusion and rural environment.
