THE OPACAS, the Galway/Leeds 'virtual’ rock band whose catchy singles and quirky videos have brought much joy during the pandemic, are back - and this time with a Lego video.
The band are about to release the new single, ‘Outta Time’ , and to give a taste of the song and the new video, a preview is now streaming on YouTube:
Previous singles have seen the band collaborate with the Knocknacarra Amateur Theatre Society and Athenry Drama Group for the accompanying videos, but current public health guidelines meant such groupings were not possible this time - hence a video depicting the band as Legomen.
“It was that or not do a video,” says guitarist Steve Talbot, and for the band, creating the video was a learning curve. “The video for ‘Outta Time’ has all been created by learning the techniques of stop-motion animation on YouTube and using free apps on an iPhone,” says keyboardist Peter Tobin. “To have such technology freely available along with a free educational platform like YouTube is just amazing.”
The full version of the video will feature the lego characters running past the Galway Advertiser office in Eyre Square!
