Summer poetry workshops with Kevin Higgins

Online classes available for complete beginners and experienced writers

STARTING May, Galway Arts Centre is offering aspiring poets a choice of three online poetry workshops, each taught by the poet Kevin Higgins.

Each week Kevin will give participants a poetry writing exercise and offer constructive feedback. Classes will take place via Zoom. Details of precisely how the workshop will function online will be explained to participants during the first session.

Classes for complete beginners, as well as those who have been writing for some time, are on Tuesdays (7pm to 8.30pm, starting May 11 ) and Fridays (2pm to 2.30pm, starting May 14 ). An Advanced Poetry Workshop, suitable for those who have participated in such workshops before or have had poems published, is on Thursdays (2pm to 4pm, starting May 13 ).

Previous participants at Kevin’s workshops have gone on to win the Hennessy Award for New Irish Poetry, the Cúirt New Writing Prize, and the Cúirt Poetry Grand Slam, while several have published collections of their poems.
