Oranmore-Maree sports development

Oranmore-Maree GAA One Club has launched a fundraising competition for its planned sports centre of excellence at Renville with the winning prize a new Ford Puma ST-Line X Hybrid.

Plans for the new Renville Sports & Community Grounds include a number of all-weather and full size pitches to serve the sporting needs of the area, and benefiting members of Oranmore-Maree GAA Club, camogie, and Naomh Mhuire Ladies' Football Club (Oranmore-Maree GAA One Club ).

The club, which already has invested nearly €800,000 in the project, and Renville Sports & Community Grounds management committee have to date been awarded a €2.1 million Government grant.

The plans include one 4G full size pitch, which would be the first full size 4G pitch in County Galway, two grass full size pitches; one juvenile pitch; three training/warm up areas; changing rooms with shower facilities; ball wall; a community facilities area; secure low level lit community walking/running track; public children’s playground area; preservation of a ringfort as a local heritage and educational site, and a community parking area with accessible public toilets and baby changing facilities to help further service Renville Park and Graveyard.

Gerry Rabbitt, chairman of Oranmore Maree GAA One Club, says this large and ambitious project is intended to deliver the sports facilities required for generations to come, in addition to adding necessary additional community amenities to the Renville area.

Tickets for the fundraising raffle cost €25 each or €50 for three and are available for purchase through www.oranmoremareegaa.com
