‘Dreams’ marks start of new releases from rapper Crescent Moon

Galway hip hop artist and producer mixes the lo-fi and the modern

AN ‘OLD skool’ style hip hop on a very contemporary theme - this is ‘Dreams’, the debut single from Galway hip hop artist and producer, Crescent Moon.

‘Dreams’ makes the start of what the artist plans will be a single release every two months, followed by his debut EP in 2022.

“I wrote it based on my current experience as a man in his twenties and the struggles and pressure young people go through as they grow and try to prosper,” he says. “I wanted to look at my own self-improvement and acknowledge the progress I've made, personally, as well as encourage others to acknowledge their own personal development.”

Crescent Moon produced the track himself, “using samples I chopped and flipped”, and composed the bassline. “I wanted to mix the old school style sampled beat with a new age vocal style,” he says.

Crescent Moon began his hip hop journey making beats on an old drum machine he found in a second hand shop. Since upgrading to a home studio, he takes inspiration from Kanye West and Brockhampton. “My music is lo-fi or classic hip hop mixed with a modern production,” he says. He also produces for other Irish artists.
