Over The Edge Fiction Slam 2021

Una Mannion and Alvy Carragher will be the judges at the annual event, now in it's 12th year

THE ANNUAL Over The Edge Fiction Slam, where fiction and prose writers have a chance to read their work to the public, returns on Friday April 9 at 8pm.

The competition, now in its 12th year, will take place via Zoom. The first 12 fiction writers to text Kevin Higgins on 087-6431748 or email [email protected]n the evening of Friday April 9 and register, will be guaranteed a place in the slam.

Participating writers should prepare two pieces of their own fiction, as there are two rounds. The time limit in both is five minutes. Extracts from longer stories are admissible. Stories do not have to be memorised.

The judges and the prizes

The slam will be judged by a three person jury made up of poet and novelist, Alvy Carragher; Una Mannion, whose debut novel, A Crooked Tree, was published last year; and an audience member. Three writers will go through to the second round and the prize for the overall winner is two bottles of wine and a box of chocolates.
