Cheevers calls for needs analysis of east side of city

Housing, schooling, and public wellbeing are feature in plan from Fianna Fáil councillor

Cllr Alan Cheevers wants a community profile and needs analysis carried out for the east side of the city.

A motion has been submitted by Cllr Cheevers ahead of April’s Galway City Council meeting that a study be conducted under the auspices of NUIG to formulate an action plan.

Some of the issues Cllr Cheevers would like to be addressed include what measures might enhance the enjoyment of communities, housing issues and policies moving forward, how to manage and operate sports facilities, and dealing with anti-social behaviour.

Steering committee

Other areas such as future schooling requirements, cultural facilities required, and connecting communities could also be explored according to Cllr Cheevers.

One of Cllr Cheevers’ suggestions is to set up a steering committee with representatives from Galway City Council, NUIG, GMIT, An Garda Siochana, and the Galway Diocese.
