Message from Mayor Mike Cubbard

To the children of Galway I hope you all have a very enjoyable St Patrick’s Day.

It has been a very strange year for all of us, you have had to adapt to online schooling and take a break from so many fun activities such as sport, arts and so many more. However, it has also been a great opportunity for us to learn some new skills. I have started cooking more and even learned how to bake a cake! It has been difficult for you as you have not been able to meet your friends or celebrate your birthday as normal and many of you missed out on special days such as your holy communion and confirmation too.

We are however very lucky to be in Galway, a city and county of such beauty. We have such amazing biodiversity and natural beauty surrounding us and I spend a lot of time with my three sons Ryan (10 ), Adam (6 ) and Ben (5 ) exploring this. As we near the end of this difficult period, you might also explore what nature has to offer in your community and let me know? I would love to hear from you by email at [email protected].

In the meantime, enjoy the St Patrick’s Day celebrations with your family and I hope to see you very soon.

Mayor Mike Cubbard.

Teachtaireacht ón Méara Mike Cubbard

Chuig páistí na Gaillimhe: Tá súil agam go mbeidh Lá Fhéile Pádraig an-deas agaibh go léir.

Ba bhliain an-aisteach í seo dúinn go léir. Rudaí nua cosúil le ceachtanna ar líne. Rudaí nach raibh go deas, cosúil le cluichí agus spórt agus rudaí deasa eile a bheith stoptha ar feadh tamaill. Mar sin féin, bhí deis againn go léir scileanna nua a fhoghlaim. Thosaigh mise ag cócaráil agus d’fhoghlaim mé conas cáca a bhácáil, fiú! Bhí sé deacair oraibhse, a pháistí, mar ní raibh sibh in ann bualadh le cairde nó lá breithe a cheiliúradh mar is gnách. Agus chaill go leor agaibh bhur laethanta speisialta don Chéad Chomaoineach agus don Chóineartú.

Tá an t-ádh linn go bhfuil cónaí orainn i nGaillimh, cathair agus contae atá chomh hálainn sin. Tá an oiread sin rudaí nádúrtha timpeall orainn – an fharraige, na sléibhte, crainn agus ainmhithe. Caithim féin go leor ama le mo thriúr mac Ryan (10 ), Adam (6 ) agus Ben (5 ) amuigh faoin spéir. Agus muid ag druidim le deireadh Covid-19, b’fhéidir gur mhaith leatsa féachaint ar an dúlra i do cheantar féin. Ar bhain tú taitneamh as le linn Covid-19? Scríobh chugam agus inis dom. Ba bhreá liom ríomhphost a fháil uait ag [email protected].

Idir an dá linn, bain taitneamh as Lá Fhéile Pádraig le do theaghlach agus tá súil agam go bhfeicfidh mé go luath thú.

An Méara Mike Cubbard
