Keith Long's Bohemians eked out a pre-season friendly win over Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park.

A lively match in the wild west of Ireland was decided by a three minute Bohemians burst when two goals were pocketed.

Liam Burt's 67 minute goal was followed by a Thomas Oluwa effort 90 seconds later as Bohs seized the initiative.

United responed in the dying stages when a Mikey Place free kick narrowed the deficit.

John Caulfield's charges crafted several opportunities during an opening period which offered plenty of encouraging moments.

Padraic Cunningham extracted a fine save from Bohemians goalkeeper James Talbot as United probed.

Shane Doherty had an effort taken off the line too, while Ruairi Keating also went close for the home team.

At the opposite end Dawson Devoy and Thomas Oluwa showed flashes of their promise for the Gypsies.

Still when the interval rolled around the teams were deadlocked with United satisfied with another effective display against top flight opposition.

When the action recommenced Bohemians were much improved with Keith Buckley prominent in the centre of the park.

Burt and Oluwa struck for the Gypsies, but United battled until the end in demanding conditions with Place netting at the death.
