HE PLAYED Fr Dougal McGuire on Father Ted; a hard working superman in My Hero; a tropical detective in Death in Paradise; even a spaceship piloting cat on Dr Who.
He is Ardal O'Hanlon a bona-fide legend of Irish comedy, and he headlines the Róisín Dubh’s online Comedy KARLnival on Friday March 19 at 8.30pm. Also performing are Zoe Lyons and Andrew Ryan, while the MC will be the great Karl Spain.
The comedians
Ardal O’Hanlon is extremely likeable and yes, we all know how he became famous, but, crucially, he is very, very, funny. He has a comic brain par-excellence which can reduce any audience to helpless tears of laughter.
As Time Out said, “a brilliant comic mind working away to get the most out of every superbly sharp line”, while The Daily Telegraph said “his manipulation of a capacity crowd is just as impressive”.
When it comes to Zoe Lyons, Funny.co.uk said it best: “Her material is diverse; flitting from one subject to another without breaking pace and she hits the right comedic tone every time.”
One of the hottest talents on the international circuit, she has appeared on Have I Got News for You, QI, Celebrity MasterChef, Mock The Week, Live at the Apollo, The Apprentice: You’re Fired, and Room 101. She is also a winner of Celebrity Mastermind.
Corkonian Andrew Ryan has been called “ferociously intelligent...charming, hilarious, and accessible” by The Skinny. He has appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News, Best of the Edinburgh Festival Live, The Blame Game, and Live at The Comedy Store.
