Domestic Violence Response (DVR ) is a community based company and registered charity, responding to the needs of women who are impacted by domestic abuse.The vision of DVR is a society that understands and deals effectively with domestic abuse.

From its base in County Galway (Oughterard ) and Galway City (Salthill ) it provides a range of services including counselling support information, telephone support, advocacy accompaniment services to the Court and Gardai, and education support programmes for women post separation.

DVR provide practical and emotional supports and advocacy and counselling throughout all stages of dealing with an abusive relationship. These include meeting safety and support needs of clients with a range of interventions, before, during and after she leaves the relationship when appropriate.

They provide appropriate information and initiate referrals to agencies that can help. They deliver a range of specific interventions which respect diversity and takes into account the client’s nationality, ethnic group and sexual orientation. An important part of DVR's work is to provide an opportunity to clients to avail of peer support, empowerment and wellness through its Educational Support Programmes

Last year, its nine staff service provided more than 1200 face to face counselling and scheduled Zoom sessions to over 270 women as well as advocacy to court and crisis telephone support.
