Galway Hospice seeks stories of living with loss during Covid

Entries can take the form of a written piece, a short narrative, a reflection, or poem

Galway Hospice is asking the public to share their stories of living with loss during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The project, Meallan Scéal Scéal Eile/One Story Encourages Another, aims to be a creative outlet for those experiencing loss during this time. Submissions can take the form of a written piece, a short narrative, a reflection, or poem.

A number of submissions will be collected and included in a short video montage with music and imagery. The written pieces will be spoken by a reader during the recording.

The project is an initiative of the Galway Hospice Bereavement and Art Therapy services and funded by the Irish Hospice Foundation and the Creative Ireland Programme.

'Some sense of solace'

.

Hazel Greene and Kathy Hyland.

“We are asking for your own unique experience of loss, in whatever form it takes,” said Kathy Hyland, art therapist at Galway Hospice. “The importance of being heard, understood, and not forgotten is at the heart of this project.”

Hazel Greene, Bereavement Services Coordinator at Galway Hospice: “Many of us are meeting the lows of living without the all-essential human connection,” she said. “This project offers people an opportunity to share their experience. It is our hope we can offer people some sense of solace during this horrendous time.”

The closing date for submissions is 2pm on Friday March 12. Email submissions to [email protected] or by post to Hazel Greene, Bereavement Services Coordinator, Galway Hospice, Renmore, Galway.
