Canney welcomes Kilbannon and Athenry roads funding

Sean Canney, Independent TD has welcomed the €36,230,409 funding allocated to Galway County Council for the 2021 roads programme.

“I am particularly delighted with a further allocation of €1.5 million for the Kilbannon road realignment and a further €1 million for the Athenry Relief road sections 3 and 5”.

“The inclusion of almost €1.4 million for drainage works is also very welcome as there are many roads that suffer from localised flooding,” he said.

“This funding will allow Galway County Council to deal with many of the poor road surfaces across Galway East and I look forward to seeing the works being carried out in the coming months.

Theft of money in Westside

On Thursday February 11 gardaí in Galway received a report of a sum of money stolen from a property in the Westside area of the city.

Two males were seen in the area around the property at the time of the theft. The first male is described as middle aged with fair curly hair and the second male is described as being middle aged and wearing a black woolly hat.

Gardaí are asking anyone who may have been in the Westside area on Thursday February 11 and who may have seen either of the two males described or anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

Theft from MPV

Between 2am on Tuesday February 9 and 3pm on Thursday, February 11 a pair of white Airpods were stolen from a black Audi A3 that was parked in the car park of the at Tír Na gCapaill, Ballybrit, Galway. Anyone who may have noticed anything unusual in the area between those times or may have been offered the Airpods for sale is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

At around 3.40 am on Friday morning February 12 the rear spoiler was removed from the rear of a white Volkswagen Passat parked outside a property at Tur Uisce, Doughiska, Galway. Anyone who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen anyone that could assist the gardaí is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

At 9.35pm on Saturday February 13 a male was observed attempting to remove the hubcaps from a white Transit van parked at Fearann Rí, Doughiska, Galway. This male made good his escape in a black coloured Ford Galaxy. Gardaí in Oranmore are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have information in relation to the male or the black Ford Galaxy to contact them on 091-388030.

Criminal damage

Sometime between 7pm on Wednesday February 10 and 1.30pm on Friday February 12 a black Volkswagen Jetta was damaged while parked outside a property at Ard an Choiste, Headford Road, Galway. Anyone who may have witnessed the damage being caused or who may have any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

On Sunday February 14 at around 11.45 pm a number of items in the front garden of a property at An Turnóg, Headford Road, Galway were smashed and damage was caused to the front of the property. A male in dark clothing was seen fleeing the area in the direction of Ballinfoyle Park. The gardaí are asking anyone who make have been in the area around the Headford Road at around 11.45 pm on St Valentine's night and may have seen this male to contact them on 091-538000.

At around 7.45pm on Saturday February 13 the front window of a house at Woodquay, Tuam Co Galway was smashed with a stone. The gardaí in Tuam are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have seen anything that could help their investigation to contact them on 093-70840.
