Huge response to Tommy Devane jersey initiative

Galway Bay FM commentator Tommy Devane has launched an initiative to acknowledge the efforts of frontline workers.

Devane, who starred when Monivea-Abbey won the Galway SFC in 1992, has asked all 32 counties in Ireland to supply a jersey accompanied with a short message of thanks.

The jersey will be framed in Galway and sent to the hospital or care setting of the county’s choice.

“We’ve already received a huge reaction from the GAA community to the project which is in conjunction with Paul Byrnes Media,” Tommy Devane said.

“I am in awe of the magnificent work our amazing frontline workers are doing to protect us every day and they certainly deserve huge recognition. They are the true heroes in this pandemic.”

Galway GAA is supporting the project with County Board chairman Pat Kearney delighted to assist.

“This is a wonderful idea and we are delighted to be supporting it,” Mr Kearney stated.

“We have a great relationship with all the hospitals and care settings in Galway and we would like to thank all the frontline staff who continue to do an amazing job every day.”
