Galway Community College (GCC ) is now taking applications for all its Level 5 and 6 QQI accredited further education courses. Applications for all courses can be completed on www.galwaycc.ie, where information about modules, course qualification, progression opportunities, and fees can be viewed. Each course page has the email address of the course coordinator, who can be contacted to get more specific information about your preferred area of study. All courses are full-time, usually four days in college with one day on work experience in local businesses and industry.
GCC offers an Erasmus+ opportunity for students and has established work placements links with partner colleges in Europe. These work placements are fully funded and offer students an opportunity to develop their cultural and educational expertise in their vocational area. Students have travelled to many places in Portugal to date and look forward to travel in other countries in the near future.
CAO preparation and career guidance form an integral part of student services at GCC, along with personal counselling and a disability officer to offer support for students with disabilities. Other services include numerous computer suites, both PC and Mac, an art studio, motor technology workshop, a newly refurbished gym, audio recording studio, live rehearsal rooms, dance studio, state of the art science laboratory, 240 seater auditorium, polytunnel and gardens with outdoor recreational seating areas, free parking, and a student café. While studying in GCC, students are guaranteed expert tuition in small classes with modern facilities in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
GCC continues to establish links within the higher education sector including GMIT, NUIG, and University of Limerick as well as establishing links with industry through work experience and guest speakers. GCC has a memorandum of understanding with GMIT, this agreement allows Level 6 learners advanced entry directly into the second year of a GMIT programme.
GCC's six specialist departments are Design and Technology; Sport and Equine; Film, Music and Theatre; Science and Engineering; Social Care; and Business and Secretarial.
