City council launch wellbeing booklet for older people

Booklet provides practical advice on the keeping active, staying connected, switching off, eating well, and 'minding your mood'

A 20-page booklet, and series of accompanying videos, has been launched by the Galway City Council and the HSE Community Services in Galway, to support older people in minding their physical and mental health over the coming months.

The booklet, part of a new range of initiatives under the Keep Well campaign, provides a range of practical advice, guidelines, information, and tips focusing on the keeping active, staying connected, switching off, eating well, and 'minding your mood' by adding healthy and helpful habits to daily and weekly routines.

The booklet can be downloaded from www.galwaycity.ie/wellbeing A free print copy, which also contains telephone numbers for support and practical advice, is available from the Galway City Community Call helpline via freephone 1800 400 150 or by emailing to [email protected]. The accompanying video series is available by searching 'Community Healthcare West' on YouTube.

The helpline is in place 7 days a week and provides a range of statutory agencies, community, and voluntary organisations and groups operating across Galway.
