Part VIII Planning and Development Regulations such as those for the City Museum will be available to view online after Cllr John Connolly proposed that they should be published on the Galway City Council website.
During Monday’s first Council meeting on Zoom, Cllr Connolly highlighted the concern, saying that he welcomed any progress on the development of the museum and its enhancement, but that Part VIII planning documents for a Part VIII that the council takes aren’t available on the online system.
“I think that all of those documents should be available to see.On this development alone two submissions were made and I recognise that neither submission raised any issue, concern or objection with the development. Again I certainly didn’t get a copy of them and I’m not sure if they are available to be seen by the public,” he said.
“I think they should be and I want to formally propose that all Part VIII go online on the public system. We have discussed that previously and I thought we had got an agreement that we would.”
Connolly’s motion was seconded by Councillor Owen Hanley. CEO Brendan McGrath said that Part VIII planning cannot go on the normal planning system as it is a different process. The meeting was told that a new portal for getting public reaction to the City Development Plan is arriving soon and that might be a more suitable location for this material.
