Mayor to lead frontline appreciation convoy on Tuesday evening.

“2020 has seen our frontline workers do trojan work around the clock in the most stressful of circumstances.

As a way to allow the people of Galway thank them it is my intention to lead a convoy of vehicles from our frontline workers on a tour of the city tomorrow (Tuesday ) from 6pm.

It is my intention to have as many of our blue light services and others who continue to work on the frontline, take part. Many have confirmed already.

We will start at 6pm from the car park at Merlin Park Hospital and finish by crossing the Quincentennial Bridge at 8.30pm.

Santa has also confirmed he will be there.

As the convoy passes, I encourage people to applaud and show their appreciation for the work the frontline heros have done. There will be no stopping, nobody joining us and no interaction but it will give a change for kids to see the various vehicles, lights and sirens and it will give Galway a chance to say thanks. I ask that people ensure they socially distance themselves from others.

Here is a rough idea of where you can see the convoy...

6.00pm Doughiska Road

6.10pm Ballybane More

6.15pm Castlepark Road

6.20pm Old Dublin Road

6.30pm Coolough Road

6.40pm Monument Road

6.50pm Headford Road

7.00pm Bohermore

7.10pm Lough Atalia

7.20pm Grattan Road

7.25pm Salthill Prom

7.35pm Barna Road

7.40pm Ballymoneen Road

7.45pm Shangort Road

7.55pm Clybaun Road

8.05pm Western Distributor Road

8.10pm Seamus Quirke Road

8.15pm Siobhan McKenna Road

8.20pm Thomas Hynes Road

8.30pm Quincentennial Bridge

This has been done safely in other areas but again I ask that nobody joins the convoy and anyone coming out to show your appreciation does so in a socially distanced manner, wears a mask and applauds as long and as loud as they can.”
