Baboró unveils plans for 2021 festival

Children's arts festival to celebrate 25th year with series of events in October

This year is not yet over, and 2021 is likely to remain a time of uncertainty, but with all things arts and culture, "the show must go on", and the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children has already unveiled plans for its next festival.

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children will mark its 25th anniversary in 2021, and October wil see what promises to be an exciting programme, featuring Irish and international artists.

Ahead of that, in March, Baboró, in partnership with Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture, will present RISE, involving three collaborative projects of contemporary dance, parkour, circus skills, and performance art, which places the voice of children at the heart of the performance.

What's happening at Baboró

.

The Streets Are Ours will be a promenade performance developed by young members of Galway Community Circus, Galway choreographer Fionnuala Doyle-Wade, and Dutch based choreographer Erik Kaiel. As part of St Pat’s Invents a New Sport, students from St Patrick’s National School will invent a zany sport with Galway artist James Riordan and Canadian performance director Darren O’Donnell.

The Veiled Ones will be a new dance theatre production created by Irish company Junk Ensemble, highlighting the powerful relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. This immersive work is a co-commission by the TRACKS Network of Baboró, Cork Midsummer Festival, and Dublin Fringe Festival.
