Galway is enjoying a rich vein of luck this month.
After a recent Euro lotto win in Clifden, the west has enjoyed two more wins, one in the EuroMillions and the second in the Irish lottery.
On Friday evening a Co Galway punter's tiny €0.20 cent EuroMillions wager defied huge odds of 33,000/1 to return a four-figure amount.
The anonymous customer placed the wager via their online BoyleSports account on Friday evening and placed some of their loose change on four numbers to be drawn from the EuroMillions main draw that evening.
The numbers selected were 5, 8, 14 and 16. In a matter of minutes, all four numbers rolled out of the machine meaning the ambitious bet had come in, resulting in the punter winning a stunning total of €6,600.20 from the €0.20 cent investment.
That was followed by another winner on Sunday when a Galway player won €40,000 on Lotto's 5-4-3-2-1 game.
Lotto 5-4-3-2-1 is a game based upon the results of Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 draws. In this game players decide how many numbers they play, predicting between one and five of the numbers drawn in Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 or Lotto Plus 2.
This winning ticket, which matched five numbers out of seven on the Lotto Plus game, was sold at Dunnes Stores in the Westside Shopping Centre on Seamus Quirke Road, Co Galway.
