New exhibition from Jin Yong

Galway based Chinese artist displays new work in Renzo Café, Eyre Street

JIN YONG, the Galway based, Chinese artist, whose work is noted for its strong, and striking use of colour and imaginative depictions of animals, is currently exhibiting in the Renzo Café, Eyre Street.

Yong, born in 1981, and living in Ireland since 2002, has enjoyed 15 solo exhibitions in Ireland and partaken in a number of group exhibitions. His work uses acrylic and oil pastels on canvas and concentrates mainly on animals.

As a Christian, Yong views God as the best designer and artist, who created this world full of beauty and colour. He looks for inspiration in nature, while also drawing inspiration from modern culture. He is interested in creating unique colour tones, but cites primary colours as the "most beautiful".

In 2018, Yong won the Chinese Professional Achievement Award from the Association of Chinese Professionals in Ireland, represented by HE Dr Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland.
