Kilbeacanty girl to star on Late Late Toy Show

An 11-year-old girl from Co Galway is the envy of children all over the country because she will star in the much anticipated Late Late Toy Show on Friday night.

Sara Fahey from Kilbeacanty is a former patient of Ireland’s largest paediatric hospital, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Dublin. She suffers from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS ), a broad term describing excess and prolonged pain and inflammation which follows an injury to an arm or leg.

She sustained an injury hillwalking and has experienced foot pain for over a year. The young dancer was approached by the hospital’s public relations team and invited to audition for the famous show. RTE contacted her family when she left hospital to obtain a video of her dance.

Sara is “thrilled” to represent Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital on Friday night and it is the perfect end to a difficult year for the young girl. This month is also CRPS awareness month so her family hope her appearance on the show will highlight the condition.

She is currently unable to weight bear on her left foot and despite finding physiotherapy “incredibly difficult” she is doing everything she can to aid her recovery.

Her mother, Priscilla Donovan, says her daughter has constant pain. “This small bit of excitement is huge to take her mind off it even for a hour.”
