Clarinbridge gets ready for Christmas lights’ display

Clarinbridge is getting set for another Christmas lights display with Sunday December 6 at 6pm the time and date scheduled for the yuletide illumination.

Organised by The Clarinbridge Tidy Towns committee, the lights display will see a convoy drive through the village, beginning at the Kilcolgan end.

A spokesperson for the committee said; “The Clarinbridge Tidy Towns [committee] is putting on another Christmas lights display after a very successful one in the village green last year.

“However, because of the Covid restrictions, we are unable to have a crowd gathering and so, weather providing, we are planning to have a ‘drive thru’ instead.

“We are expanding on last year’s display with addditional lights down the Main street.

Pallet trees [will be] lit up at the Athenry turn off and also 31 smaller pallet trees [will be lit up], all decorated by the children at the three local national schools, which we will display hanging on the green hoarding in front of the “Ruins” of the Oyster Manor.

“We will then have a convoy of cars driving through the village starting at the Kilcolgan end with Santa driving a tractor adorned with fairy lights leading the procession.

“We have contacted the Garda who have promised to help with crowd and traffic control.”
