In recent years, the months leading into the Christmas period have been busy for auction sales with many people hoping to secure properties of interest before the festive day.
Despite the Level 5 restrictions, The Connacht Property Auction's team reports the final quarter of 2020 remains busy and the appetite of purchasers remains strong.
The company has one final online auction still to take place on December 17, and auction team is expecting a busy final few weeks before this date.
The Connacht Property Auction sales manager Shane May says the success of its auctions is down to the large marketing campaigns it undertakes in Ireland and abroad, while also working in close partnership with local partner auctioneers.
“Our auction team will be continuing to take listings up to Christmas with marketing campaigns running right through the Christmas period, which tends to see a lot on online activity on properties.”
The Connacht Property Auction is also now taking entries for its first online auctions of 2021, which will take place on January 28 and February 18.
The auction team and their partner auctioneers report a number of success stories in Galway, and the rest of Connacht over the past couple of months.
Some successful sales of note included:
• Ballinasloe, Galway, a well-kept 3 bed mid terraced house in Hymany Park, Ballinasloe. The property was offered in partnership with Michael McCullagh Auctioneers (Ballinasloe ). Situated close to the town centre, the property proved popular with local buyers before selling for above the starting price at €83,000.
• Elsewhere, in partnership with RE/MAX Property Experts Galway, a DYI project was offered for sale in Ballyglunin, Tuam. The property, which required internal repairs, was structurally in good condition, and after some competitive bidding sold for €190,000.
• In Monivea a fine three-bed family home was also sold in partnership with RE/MAX Galway. The house was offered to the market in particularly good condition both inside and out, and sold to a local buyer for €160,000.
• In other parts of Connacht a four-bed semi-detached property offered at bids over €149,000 in partnership with Blue Property Sales (Castlebar ). The property located at 1 Orlagh Grove, Castlebar, would ideally suit owner occupiers or investors, as the property has a proven record in the rental market. The vendor accepted an online bid prior to auction and the property was successfully sold for €166,000.
• In Leitrim, a four bedroom bungalow at Ardlougher, Gorvagh, sold in partnership Gordon Hughes Estate Agents (Ballinamore ). The property, with a large c2 acre site and ideally located close to the town, sold for €90,000.
• One of the most active lots of the last online auction was a modern, commercial unit, located within close proximity of Ballaghaderreen town centre. The property, which was offered for sale in partnership with James Kilcoyne Ltd (Ballaghaderreen ), had an internal floor area of c330sq mts, and finished to a high specification. It attracted starting bids of €70,000. After 50 minutes of lively bidding and 43 bids, the virtual hammer fell on the final bid of €101,000.
