'Bare Feet on Grass' - The Raines release new single

Galway Americana three's new song was inspired by a sunny day in Connemara during lockdown

'BARE FEET On Grass’, the new single from The Raines, the Galway folk 'supergroup' of Yvonne Tiernan, Ruth Dillon, and Juliana Erkkonen, is a poignant, yet hopeful song inspired by the Covid-19 lockdown.

Written on a "gloriously sunny morning" in Connemara, during the original lockdown, 'Bare Feet On Grass' is a song of memory, nature, appreciation for the people in whose company you are in, yet shot through with a sense of poignancy and impermanence. It mixes contemporary folk, with strong elements of Americana, with beguiling vocal harmonies backed by the deft and sympathetic accompaniment of Erkkonen's fiddle playing.

The song was recorded in the Black Gate Studio, Galway. Brian Masterson, who has worked with The Chieftains, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, and The Bothy Band, mixed and mastered the track.

The band was formed when Yvonne (vocals/banjolele ), Ruth (vocals/guitar/ukulele ), and Juliana (fiddle/vocals ), met on Inis Oírr. Yvonne has toured with The Chieftains; Ruth has recorded with Dolores Keane, and both she and Juliana are former members of The Molly Hicks.
