NUI, Galway student Róisín Stack, has had her play Trollied selected by Triantán Theatre Company as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival which runs from June 13 to 28..
The one act play tells the story of two teenagers bush drinking in a car park at night. It was first performed in February as part of the Múscailt Festival where it received the award for Best Production.
Trollied is Ms Stack’s first solo play. Over the past few years she has performed and devised work with the ensemble group Three Ps In A Pod, in Australia, England, and Ireland. Last year she devised the Galway Literary Walk with Tuam’s Midi Corcoran for the Cúirt Literary Festival. She also performed with Galway Youth Theatre and is currently completing her master’s in drama and theatre at NUIG.
Ms Stack has recently been invited to undertake a summer workshop in California with renowned San Francisco Mime Troupe theatre company and has received a Travel & Training Award from the Arts Council of Ireland to study with the company. She will attend Traintán’s production of Trollied shortly before heading to the US.
