New county plan should help young house builders

The most important change in the new Galway County Council Development Plan 2009 - 2012 is that it will reduce the difficulties faced by young people trying to secure planning permission for their first home on family lands.

This is the view of Independent Oranmore councillor Jim Cuddy who was commenting on the new plan which came into force this week.

Cllr Cuddy said the plan also facilitates local industries by lifting some planning restrictions. “This is particularly important in the current economic climate,” he said, “as it will encourage individuals to start their own businesses.”
