Livefeed returns with online performance

On November 7, Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture youth music project, Livefeed, will host a live online event featuring young musicians and songwriters from Galway city and county. The event will be livestreamed via the Livefeed Facebook, YouTube and Twitch accounts at 7pm and available to watch after the event on YouTube. The event will also feature as part of the TRIBES Youth Arts Festival programme.

Since January 2019, Livefeed has worked with young people in Gort, Kinvara, Headford, Tuam, Loughrea, and Galway city to co-produce live music events in safe, alcohol-free environments. The project provides new opportunities for young people to perform and enjoy live music and empowers participants to pursue interests in songwriting, performance, audio production, sound engineering and music photography through workshops, mentorship, and hands-on experience at events.

It has been a difficult year for live music and with increased restrictions being imposed and uncertainty remaining over live events, Livefeed has decided to put on a show for audiences to enjoy from home.

David Boland, project manager, says; “Young people have had to endure a lot this year and we’re hoping that this event can give our participants something positive to focus on and give people in Galway something to celebrate. We have been consistently amazed at the wealth of talent and dedication among the young people we’ve worked with so far and we are delighted to be able to give them a platform on November 7.”

Marilyn Gaughan-Reddan, head of programme, Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture said; “We’re so proud of the resilience and determination of the Livefeed participants. It’s so important that audiences, communities, and participants have access to performances and events during this time, and we are looking forward to a memorable event."
