Busy times at John Quinn & Co

John Quinn & Co, St Augustine Street, Galway, is reporting brisk autumn/early winter sales with a selection of properties having been disposed of in the past week or so. These include a luxury two bedroom apartment in Sailin, Wellpark, which was on the market with a guideline price of €278,000; a fine four bedroom semidetached in Riasc Na Ri, Knocknacarra, which was sold in excess of its asking price of €295,000; a lovely two bedroom bungalow in Tirellan Heights; another two bed semidetached house in Sandyvale Lawn; and an excellent three bedroom residence in Monivea Park, Ballybane, which achieved in excess of its asking price. A beautiful property at Castle Park in Ballybane was also quickly snapped up, an excellent four bed residence in Cartur Mor sold in excess of its asking price of €285,000, and a terraced home in Bohermore achieved in excess of €20,000 more than its guide price.

In the west side of the city John Quinn has been extremely active with sales having taken place in the Claddagh, and in Cimin Mor, where a three bedroom semidetached residence was disposed of in excess of the asking price of €275,000, while an excellent three/four bedroom residence in Rahylin Glebe achieved a figure of €40,000 in excess of its asking price. These sales have taken place in the last couple of weeks.

John Quinn indicated that there are a number of factors at play in the market at the moment. He stated that with the new houses that are on the market at the moment being so highly priced, this has had the effect of putting pressure on the secondhand market where a shortage has existed for some time. Very often there can be a difference of up to €50,000 or more between a new house and a secondhand house, and many people have chosen the secondhand house, even though it is the older model, and with the general shortage, demand has increased significantly.

John Quinn also indicated that there are several properties coming on the market in the coming weeks in Mervue, Knocknacarra, Ballybane, and Westside, including an excellent four bedroom semidetached residence in Knocknacarra, which will all be available in the next three weeks and keen interest is expected in same.
