Starting a new business is always a bit of a leap of faith, and considering the current climate it’s a more daunting challenge than ever. But for Aine, a love for painting and teaching spurred her on to take up that challenge.“I had been having small painting get togethers with friends in my house before lockdown. I loved creating a relaxing environment where we could paint and discuss art together.
"One day, my 10yr old daughter asked if she could paint at an easel like ‘Mom’ , soon she had friends calling over wanting to do the same.I thought to myself, wow, there could be a business opportunity here, but I probably wouldn’t have done anything more about it if it hadn’t been for Lockdown.
"Being in Lockdown for me was an opportunity to reassess what my life goals were. It slowed everything down."
There was time to focus on reimagining a future path, like a blank canvas Aine has a relaxed yet innovative teaching approach. Everyone is encouraged to work at a pace that is comfortable for them. From the complete novice to those who have been painting for years, Aine has the patience and experience to get the best out of each and everyone of her students.
"Standing in front of a blank canvas for the first time can be quite an intimidating experience, but I offer clarity and guidance with every step of your creative journey."
Aine started classes for adults and children in Kilannin Community Centre and in The Courthouse, Oughterard this September.
"I was so surprised and delighted at the response for these classes. After a week of advertising on social media I had every spot in both the children’s and adults classes filled. Following the success of her local classes, Aine will now be offering places for Adults Oil Painting Classes in a new venue in Galway City. I am so excited to be starting classes in The Wellness Centre in Terryland Galway. It’s a beautifully serene space, I just know it will be perfect for the atmosphere I wish to establish for my students.
