The oral hearings on the Galway City Ring Road will resume next month, according to Seán Kyne, Fine Gael Senator in Galway.
Module two of the hearings will resume on Monday, October 12 from the An Bord Pleanála offices in Dublin with remote access. Priority will be given to participants who have made a submission on the development but did not get the opportunity to contribute at the oral hearings prior to the cancellation of physical meetings due to Covid-19.
In addition, module 3 of the hearings will take place on Tuesday October 27 from 10am at the Clayton Hotel, Ballybrit with remote access.
Senator Kyne said he is pleased to see the resumption of the hearings on the Galway City Ring Road which he had requested in communication with An Bord Pleanála.
“It is very clear that the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic is a challenge that will continue for many months, if not years and it is imperative that we adapt so that important business like the detailed consideration of planning applications can resume.
“The higher planning authority has set out guidelines for the hearings such as specific times for contributions by participants, a limit on the number of representatives/agents for each submission, a restriction on ‘walk-in’ observers or objectors, time-limits for contributions, among others, so as to adhere to public health requirements and ensure the safety of staff and participants.” he said.
“It is vital that planning process for the Galway City Ring Road resume and that all who have made submissions can contribute to the process. I hope the resumption of hearings will enable the City Ring Road project to conclude its journey through the planning process given its importance for the development of our city and county,” concluded Senator Kyne.
