Woodquay green area needs a clean up says Fahy

The green area opposite the Dyke Road car park could be turned into a wonderful public park but first a clean up of the area is badly needed.

This is the view of Fine Gael Galway City East candidate Frank G Fahy, who has written to the Parks Department of the Galway City Council asking for a clean up of the area which stretches from the plots in Woodquay to the Quincentennial Bridge.

“It would take a very minimal effort to improve the area,” he said. “The planting of some trees and a few park benches would make it a very relaxing place to spend some time now that the evenings are getting longer.”

Mr Fahy is also calling on the city council to alleviate the flooding that takes place outside the Galway United pitch on the Dyke Road. He said the road needs to be widened to facilitate footpaths and protect pedestrians.
