Book launch in Charlie Byrne’s

A NEW book, examining how the Celtic Christianity of Ireland and Scotland, came under pressure from Rome as the Papacy sought to expand its influence, is to be launched in Galway.

The Globalisation of God - Celtic Christianity’s Nemesis (Aisling Publications )by Dara Molloy will be launched in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop tomorrow at 6.30pm by Labour Party president and Galway West TD Michael D Higgins.

The book, published by Aisling Publications in Indreabhán, begins with Moses and how his vision of God became the first ‘product’ to be ‘marketed’ at a global level, paving the way for Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Bahá’í, and Sikhism.

The book also looks at how, from the fourth century AD, the Roman church began to extend it’s influence over European Christianity and how this came into conflict with the independently minded Irish church.
