GALWAY SINGER-songwriter, Niamh Regan, who has just released her debut album, Hemet, will perform at the Oranmore Arts Festival's online show - Bean/She.
On Friday September 18 at 8.30pm, via www.oaf.ie, Oranmore Arts Festival will present Bean/She with Denise Chaila, Niamh Regan and Gráinne Conaty - each performing original material and representing different elects of contemporary music from Ireland. The event is part of Galway Culture Night 2020.
Headlining Bean/She is grime poet Denise Chaila, who has electrified Irish hip-hop since the release of her song 'Copper Bullet' and last year's EP, Dual Citizenship. Her debut album, Go Bravely, was released earlier this year. Her performance for the festival was recorded in Oranmore Castle.Galway singer-songwriter Niamh Regan has been compared to Laura Marling, Lisa Hannigan, and This Is The Kit, while her inspirations include Nick Drake, Richard Thompson, Tom Waits, Paul Brady, and Karen Dalton.
Her debut album was released last week via Black Gate Records, and contains the singles 'How About That Coffee?' and 'Save The Day'. “I recorded this album after one of the most challenging years I’ve faced so far," says Niamh. "I lost my mam, got married, went back to school and I grew up a bit - I think. My world got bigger and smaller all in one breath, and this album is all about that.”Also performing is Cavan singer-songwriter Grainne Conaty. Luka Bloom has called her "a wordsmith [and] a thinker", she released her debut EP ‘Wild Heart’ in 2019.
