WW virtual workshops a success

With safety top of mind, WW has developed a bespoke platform of virtual workshops to help members continue their weight loss journey through the current health crisis.

WW virtual workshops offer group support, weight accountability, and include access to the WW digital platform, giving you the myWW plan in the palm of your hand with a 24/7 online coach.

Monthly, members can enjoy a virtual food demonstration week where coaches take to their kitchens to share delicious dishes for members and their families. There are also live virtual workshops you can attend from home.

Mary Plunkett's class is available on Thursday evening at 7.30pm, and her occasional cookery demos have been a big hit with members.

Anne McDermott's virtual workshops are Wednesday evening at 7pm and 8.30pm, with the 8.30pm workshop for men only.

Mary and Anne are available to support you on your journey to improved health and wellbeing so book your class today on www.ww.ie

Mary Plunkett has also confirmed that WW Ireland is at the beginning of a carefully planned, phased, re-opening throughout the country. Public safety and adherence to all public health guidelines is WW's top priority. "We look forward to sharing news of re-opening in Galway in the not too distant future, and in the meantime thank you for your continued support of our virtual workshops and we look forward to welcoming existing, new, and previous members to our weekly workshops," she said.

Roisin McDonagh had been a WW member for a year when the lockdown occurred in March. Virtual workshops have allowed her to continue her weight loss journey.

"I joined WW in February 2019, attending weekly workshops in the Clybaun Hotel, Knocknacarra," she said. "When workshops closed in March 2020 I had lost almost 10st. People contact me asking me when WW will be back - the truth is WW never went away. Throughout lockdown I maintained contact with my coach Mary, and then virtual workshops were launched in June.

"Lockdown was not an easy time to try to lose weight, but virtual workshops started at the right time for me," she recalled. "I was starting to focus on weight loss again, and while I was maintaining accountability with my coach, I was missing the tips, advice, motivation, and encouragement you get from a workshop. That half hour per week I set aside to focus on myself and my weight loss journey, to reflect on what went well, and what didn’t go well. I was missing the camaraderie of class, and celebrating in the success of my group.

"I now get that with my virtual workshop, with the added benefit that I no longer have to travel to Galway, I can attend from the comfort of my sitting room - or my car as I have done on occasion. And it works as I’ve since gone on to not only hit 10st off, but I’ve lost another 7lb too. People often ask me what my secret is, and I gladly tell them it’s WW. I follow the WW plan, attend the workshops, and use WW digital. I still have access to all of this, but now with virtual workshops it’s available to me no matter where I am."
