Galway Chamber would like to hear from businesses – from every sector, large and small, rural and urban – to form its priorities and policy options for its Pre-Budget Submission 2021 to government.
In a statement the Chamber said that 2020 has not worked out as businesses would have liked and that the COVID-19 crisis has delivered a sharp shock to Galway’s economy and society.
“All parts of our society have been impacted and virtually every sector of the economy is grappling with issues and trying to figure out what the future holds. Budget 2021 is critical to our recovery, as we now work towards rebuilding the economy,” it said.

Speaking on the importance of the upcoming Budget, Galway Chamber President, JP Gilmartin, said ‘Never has there been a more important Budget than the upcoming October Budget for 2021.
“The budget announcements in October must build on the Government’s July stimulus plan and lay a solid foundation to meet head on the inevitable economic challenges to be faced by businesses in the months and years ahead.’
Kenny Deery, CEO, Galway Chamber, said they are encouraging all businesses to engage with them. “We need to hear what their challenges are and what our priorities should be for 2021. Not even after the last recession, were we entering a more precarious and uncertain time than now. Thus, Government needs to listen to and understand the voice of the business community,” he added.
