Stephen Ryan and Eddie Mullarkey to perform at city's first comedy show of the autumn

GALWAY'S FIRST comedy show of the autumn will take place in Massimo, William Street West, next week, with stand-up from Stephen Ryan, Eddie Mullarkey, and MC Karl Spain.

The Comedy KARLnival takes place on Tuesday September 1 at 8pm and will be headlined by Stephen Ryan, a previous winner of the Forbidden Fruit Comedy Competition, a finalist in the 2016 Irish Comedian of the Year competition, and a two-time finalist in the prestigious Chortle Student Comedy Competition.

The Limerick native has performed at numerous festivals, including Edinburgh, Latitude, Forbidden Fruit, TedFest, and the Vodafone Comedy Carnival. Chortle.co.uk said of him: "This composed Irishman has a charming way with words, elegantly tricksy wordplay liberally peppering his set.... mesmerising aura”.

Eddie Mullarkey has been spreading laughter all over Ireland and Britain with his wild stories and puppy-dog eyes. In 2019 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival earned four star reviews. He was also runner-up in the Show Me The Funny 2018 final.

The night will be MC'd by Karl Spain, arguably the most outstanding comedy MC in Ireland. A regular at Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Galway Comedy Carnival, Vodafone Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, and Montreal Just for Laughs, he was a resident writer for Republic Of Telly and still is for numerous comedians.
