Extra funding for Trading Online Voucher Scheme to assist Galway businesses

Local Enterprise Office Galway has announced that additional funding has been approved for the hugely successful Trading Online Voucher.

The funding was approved by the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar TD as part of the July Stimulus Package.

The Trading Online Voucher offers training, advice and financial support of 90% to qualifying businesses – up to a maximum value of €2,500.

It covers fields including website and app development, digital marketing, social media for business, search engine optimization and tailoring online presence to the specific needs of a business.

Over 2 thousand businesses have now availed of the scheme through Local Enterprise Office Galway, with participants reporting a significant 20% average increase in sales.

3 in 5 enterprises availing of the Trading Online Voucher exported for the first time, while participating businesses also reported an 80% increase in sales leads.

The latest allocation for the scheme also allows previous recipients of the voucher the opportunity to apply for a second round of funding.

Applications will be judged on criteria including project suitability, increased turnover, Covid-19 response impact, export potential, increase in online sales potential and job creation.

To qualify for the scheme, businesses must have no more than 10 employees, less than €2m in turnover and be trading for at least 6 months.

All applicants must complete a mandatory webinar to quality for the voucher, with the next webinar set to take place on the 26th of August.

For many smaller businesses, the question is not whether to trade online, but how to start and how to best position the business to unlock its full potential.

The hugely successful Trading Online Voucher Scheme has proven to be a critical support in helping businesses maximize their impact in the online space, in light of the ongoing challenges presented by Covid-19.
