Rahoon Cemetery mass to be streamed following success of Bohermore event

Galway City Council wish to thank everyone for their part in the annual Cemetery mass in Bohermore New Cemetery which was held on Sunday, August 16 and which was streamed live but held behind closed doors following a request from the Galway Diocesan Secretary.

They would especially like to thank Bishop Brendan Kelly for the prayerful mass broadcast from outside the historic Catholic Chapel in the Cemetery, the Cemetery staff for preparing the Cemetery and StudioRove for providing the technology. They would also like to thank everyone who tuned in for the mass.

The mass can be watched back at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=639766059996668

The Galway Diocesan Secretary has also requested that the annual Cemetery Mass in Mount St Joseph’s Cemetery in Rahoon should take place behind closed doors on September 13 at 11am and should be streamed live.

At this stage, it is anticipated that Rahoon Cemetery will be closed to the public for the entire day on this date but this will be subject to Government/HSE advice in relation to COVID-19 closer to the date.

To assist with tidying the graves during the week leading up to this mass, the Cemetery will be opened later than regular opening times. More information will be advised nearer to the time.
