Shannon Finnegan, an artist who makes work about accessibility and disability culture.

Which is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Lack of self belief

What is your greatest extravagance?

My heated blanket that I use for my chronic pain was way more expensive than I will ever admit, but it’s worth it!

What is your favourite journey?

The boat from Baltimore to Oiléan Chléire - as long as it’s not too stormy!

On what occasion do you lie?

Never!

Which living person do you most despise?

I really hate a lot of politicians, especially ones who target people living in poverty.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

All my lovely pals and my family.

When and where were you happiest?

Probably when I was a young child.

Which talent would you most like to have?

I wish I could dance.

What is your current state of mind?

Worried about pandemic, thinking about how to make the arts more accessible.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I’m pretty proud I am still making art.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what do you think it would be?

A Jack Russell.

What is your most treasured possession?

The aforementioned heated blanket.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Isolation.

Anything creative!

Áine is an award winning theatre-maker from north Mayo. A graduate of MFA Design at The Lir, Trinity College Dublin, and the Institute of Art and Design, Dun Laoghaire, she is currently reimagining how she creates work following her diagnosis with fibromyalgia.
