Cheevers calls for 'urgent review' of walkways around the city

Councillor has received numerous complaints from people who fell or were hurt due to falls along paths

An "urgent review" of paths and walkways around the city is needed with many paths in a "bad state of repair", according to a local councillor.

Fianna Fáil Galway City East councillor, Alan Cheevers, has called on the Galway City Council to carry out such a review after receiving numerous representations from people who fell or were hurt due to falls along paths.

"This is an issue," he said. "Just this week I received news that a pensioner who had a fall on Saturday, resulted in a broken hip and a broken shoulder. We need an urgent review on this issue, especially for the elderly and people with disabilities, so they are safe when they are out."
